After First Submission

Revise-and-resubmit support

Peer review almost always asks for revisions. We support that work separately.

$1,000 per revision round

After your initial program ends with the first journal submission, we charge a flat $1,000 per revise-and-resubmit round. Each round typically takes about a month and includes:

  • Reviewing the editor's and reviewers' comments with your mentor
  • Revising the manuscript
  • Drafting the response-to-reviewers letter
  • Resubmitting

Most papers go through one or two rounds before acceptance or rejection. Same rate applies regardless of which initial program you took.

Important to know

What we don't control

Honesty about how peer-reviewed publication works.

  • The journal makes all editorial decisions. Whether a paper is accepted, rejected, or sent for revision is entirely the journal editor's and reviewers' decision. JBE prepares the strongest possible manuscript and submission package, but we cannot guarantee acceptance or any specific editorial outcome.
  • Timelines vary widely. Time from submission to first decision can range from a few weeks to many months. Time to final acceptance or rejection can take six months to over a year. This depends entirely on the journal, the assigned editor, reviewer availability, and the journal's internal processes — all outside JBE's control.
  • Journal submission fees are separate and paid by the student. Many high school research journals charge a submission, processing, or article-processing fee. Fees vary by journal and can range from $0 to several hundred dollars. JBE does not include these fees in any program price. We'll tell you the expected fee before submission.
  • Multiple journal submissions may be needed. If a paper is rejected, we may target a different journal. Each new submission may incur its own fee. The $1,000 revise-and-resubmit rate covers JBE's work; it does not cover the journal's fees.
Selection Help

Not sure which program?

Three quick guidelines.

Just exploring

Start with the 1-Hour Consult — it's free. We'll honestly tell you whether research is a fit before you commit to anything.

Have summer, want it done fast

1-Month Sprint ($7,000) is an intensive 4-week push to first submission. Best if your student has flexible time and wants the paper done quickly.

Balancing with school

2-Month Standard ($2,500/mo) or 3-Month Premier ($1,500/mo) spread the work and cost over a longer period — same final output as Sprint, easier monthly cash flow.
